Computer Deal of The Week - PC Hardware and Reviews - About.com

Computers from just a few years ago are more than capable of running today's software with little problem. The average user can hold onto a PC for over four years now. There are still some aspects of computers that can be very frustrating including boot times, especially on older computers. One great way to speed up an older system is to install a solid state drive as your OS and program drive. Prices have come down significantly such that they are much more affordable upgrades. Take for instance the Kingston SSDNow V200 256GB solid state drive from NewEgg for just $160. This is extremely affordable considering that this price just a year ago would get a drive of roughly one quarter of the storage. It uses a standard 2.5-inch frame but uses an older JMicron controller. This means that it is more useful for older PC that don't have a SATA III interface to take advantage of the faster SSD drives.
