Flag Football Season Is Almost Underway - Outdoor Recreation ...

Now that flag football is currently open for enrollment, many teams will begin to assemble their squad together for this year?s intramural leagues.? Last year we had a total of 174 teams signed up and this year we are trying to at least get over 200 teams.?

Flag football does not require a lot of talent, like normal football.? Instead, flag football is a little more laid back without the possibility of getting hurt by being tackled.? Also, as a participant all you need to do to be good is be able to pull the opposing teams flag and it doesn?t hurt to have a little bit of speed.? The quicker you are the better chance you will be able to make plays in this intramural league.?

In addition, we have three types of leagues:

Leisure League ? This is for players who are not too familiar with flag football or are just trying to enjoy themselves by having a good time running around making plays.? This is more of a beginner stage for those who want to experience the sport firsthand.?

Recreational League ? This is for players who are familiar with flag football and understand how it works.? This is for the average fan or player who would be at an intermediate level of play.? Recreational is a bit more competitive, however it is still more of a slower pace game compared to that of the next level .

Competitive League ? This is for players who are experienced and comfortable with how football is played and possibly played in high school as well.? The competition level increases as every team is fighting to be the ultimate flag football competitive champions.? As an incentive to the participants the winners receive T-shirts that say ?competitive champions? as opposed to the other leagues which will say ?recreational champions?.?

The deadline to register for flag football is October 10th.? However, the sooner you sign up the better off your team will be guaranteed the time slot that you wish to play at.? Furthermore, the first 50 captains to sign their teams up will receive a free T-shirt from UREC.?

So don?t wait tell the last minute. Go online to http://imsports.wsu.edu/ and sign your team up today.? Even if you do not have a team you can still sign up as a free agent in which a team will pick you up or you can create a new team with other free agents.?
